Only 5 months? Funny, seems MUCH longer...

Well. I guess some explanation is due, yes? Halloween came and went, and then Christmas was a big deal. I signed on to do a couple of craft/gift shows and that sucked up all of the time and energy (and jewelry) that I could possibly come up with. After that - total burn out!

By New Year's I was pretty certain that we were expecting our second child! We're really excited about this...and a little scared. It's been six years since the last one ;) Anyhow, bead making is out for me for a while. Some say it's safe during pregnancy, but I'm choosing the side of caution. The glass is full of metals and minerals and all kinds of salts....who knows exactly what happens to all of that stuff when it enters an 1800 degree flame right in front of your face??? I have proper ventilation and the right 3M mask, but still, you only get one chance to form those brain cells.

The baby is due August 28th. Just four short weeks after my 20th high school reunion (figures). I'll be lookin' gooooood :D I'm really looking forward to all of this. What a year it will be!

Rest Day!

I *love* Sunday! It's the only day we have nothing we have to do. Seems like there are no breaks at all during the rest of the week. My oldest and dearest friend Lynne came over today and we ate cake, drank wine and carved pumpkins. SO much fun!
I have some beads in the kiln...they've been there since Tuesday....maybe I'll get them cleaned and listed tomorrow. Oh! There is a snowman on auction on eBay right now - a big one. He's a little over 4 cm head to toe. He's so cute :)
You know what's really hard to photograph (for me, anyway)? White. The pictures of the snowman look so blurry :( Trust me, he's not at all blurry in real life!

The sickness seems to be on it's way! Nothing worse than a bad head cold when the weather is still hot. yuck.
My last auction ended this morning and I haven't been able to get anything made in the last couple of weeks! That's an odd feeling ;) I've got Christmas on my mind...but I wonder if I start making Christmas stuff now if I'll be in a bad state of BAH HUMBUG by the time Christmas actually gets here....
I made a few snowmen a couple of weeks ago - I think they'll go to eBay, but maybe just to the craft fair. I would be delighted to take any custom orders for things I post here. Just send an email and ask!

Blah. I got hit with one of the worst colds I've ever had! ack. It seems to be on it's way, but still. It's really hard to make beads when you've had your fair share of cold medicine...just doesn't feel so *safe* lol.
I'm signed on to do a craft fair on December 6th! This should be loads of fun! I need to make an inventory. People at craft fairs don't tend to want loose beads....for some strange reason they want me to actually make stuff out of the beads. Whatever ;) So I'm thinking earrings, maybe pendants...what else? Keyrings? I have no ideas...how about zipper pulls? Think stocking stuffers. Ideas please!!!

Wanna know the coolest thing about my friendship with Karen? There are many cool things, but the best? The BEST is that she was my 5th grade teacher! wow. Turns out we live a couple of miles apart (in an entirely different area than when she was teaching me to give oral reports :rolleyes: ) and we have a friend in common. The world is tiny. Today we worked on some of her jewelry that needed tuning up and her grandaughter and my daughter (the same age) played together! How wild is that?

Fall is here! So that means that there is some hope that the weather will improve...right? I don't know how much longer I can bear these 95 degree days!
Sorry I've been so quiet - I had a birthday and over the last few years that has made me a little shall we say "antisocial" for the duration? When did that happen? I used to LOVE my birthday... huh.

Halloween isn't even here yet, and I have all of the Christmas colors out on my workbench. It feels weird, but the beads are coming out pretty cute. At least I can pretend it's cold outside while I sit in front of the torch, forming molten glass into snowmen :rolleyes:
